Donor Oocyte

Donor Oocyte

Donor oocytes, like donor sperm, is a complex issue and sometimes a very difficult decision to make. There are two main options for using donor oocytes: known donor and unknown donor. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

A known donor will generally be less costly as there are no agency fees to be paid. This option might also provide a sense of familiarity and comfort since the donor is someone known to the recipient. However, it can also bring about potential emotional and relational complexities.

An unknown donor can be used from an agency or from the donor oocytes that we have available. While this option involves additional costs due to agency fees, it offers anonymity and reduces potential personal and emotional entanglements. It also provides access to a larger pool of donors, increasing the chances of finding a match that meets specific criteria.

We screen all donors (both male and female) for sexually transmitted diseases and medical conditions to ensure the highest level of safety and health. We also collect important information about the donors that can be shared if necessary, providing recipients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.
