Egg Freezing Cycles

Egg Freezing Cycles

Egg freezing cycles involve a series of steps to preserve a woman's eggs for future use. The process begins with a comprehensive medical consultation and assessment to ensure suitability for the procedure. Once cleared, the cycle starts with ovarian stimulation, where hormonal medications are administered to encourage the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This phase typically lasts for about 10-14 days, during which regular monitoring through blood tests and ultrasounds tracks the development of the eggs.

When the eggs are deemed mature, a minor surgical procedure called egg retrieval is performed under sedation. A fine needle is used to extract the eggs from the ovaries, which are then quickly assessed and frozen using a method known as vitrification.

This technique rapidly cools the eggs to prevent the formation of ice crystals, thereby preserving their quality. The frozen eggs can be stored for many years, providing women with the option to use them at a later stage when they are ready to conceive.
